4-Pin xfire Power Connection (powered riser needed?)
« on: May 01, 2013, 04:18:13 PM »
Hi,

I'm planning to buy an ASRock FM2A85X Extreme6 FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard to use for a 4 x 7970 setup. The board has a feature called "4 pin xfire power connector" which seems to be a molex connection on the motherboard that throughputs power to the GPUs. It only mentions two cards in xfire in the manual - will it benefit a four card setup not put into crossfire?

My hope is that it will negate the need for power risers as they are rather hard to track down and are expensive.

Thank you.

I was not planning on using xfire. I was simply wondering if the system called "xfire 4pin power connection" would have any benefit to me.

Thanks
