Newbie Needs Help! 3 LTC Reward!
« on: December 08, 2013, 03:04:03 AM »
Hi there, I have just built my first rig and had it running for a week no problems at about 500KHS/gpu. I attempted to tweak it by adding setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100, and setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1. When I did this it cooled the gpu's down nicely and they ran at 740kh/s each. But then crashed CGMiner after a few seconds. I deleted these references in registry, but cannot even now run at I 11 for more than a few minutes at 200KH/S. I then wiped the computer clean and reinstalled windows, AMD Catalyst, new CGMiner. Still the same - crashed gpu's after a minute or so at even 200KH/s. At I 13 gets up to 600KH/s then crashed straight away. I'm confused as now I can't even get it to run the way it did fine for a week before I put the registry entries in? Even with new Windows install and deleting setx manually before re-install.

I have done a massive amount of research and tried about 30 different settings I found for my cards on the net - no good, so it seems there is an underlying hardware issue or something?

If anybody can be bothered taking me under their wing and helps me get this rig running at the expected 700KH/s per card I am happy to flick 3 LTC across for their troubles. my system is :

Windows Home Premium 7 64 bit
ASRock Z87 Extreme 4 mother board
Intel G3220 CPU
Coolermaster 1000W power supply
3 x Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X OC GV-R928XOC-3GD
CGMiner cgminer 3.5.0     -o stratum+tcp:// -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD --scrypt -I 11 -g 2 -w 256 --shaders 2048

Any help would be greatly appreciated. i have tried everything I can. I'm pretty basic on computers though... :o :o :o

Try adding

--thread-concurrency 11000 --lookup-gap 2

And change the intensity back to 13 ( -I 13 )

You should now be getting about 400-500 hashes without crashing and without hardware errors (It should say HW: 0)

If you are crashing or getting hardware errors then try increasing thread concurrency

Then to get maxmimum hashes you need to play around with the engine clock on each video card, press G in cgminer and then E to set a new clock, then type the new clock like so: 1020 Mhz and press enter, move it around in 10 Mhz increments until you find the best clock for each card, then you can add those clocks in the start options with --gpu-engine with a comma for each card, like so --gpu-engine 1020,1020,1025

For my gigabyte 280x I found that engine clock at 1027 Mhz works best, but different cards will work best with different clocks so its best to find it manually

After everything make sure you are getting no hardware errors, HW should be at 0, otherwise you are wasting work and need to increase thread concurrency

Do you think 1.00 LTC will worth more than $1.00 USD at any time in 2013?
