Best client for MAC?
« on: April 05, 2013, 10:00:20 AM »
Hi,
I have downloaded the ElectrumLitecoin client for the Apple Mac. Right now I get a small dialog in the middle of the screen that just says "connecting".
It [the cleint] looks very different from the Bitcoin client.
Should it continue to say 'connecting' or will this change to "connected".
Where in the client do I create my 'receive' address?

Any basic help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I had the same problem as well. Instead, I downloaded Litecoin v0.6.3c for Mac OS X and it seems to be a lot better. It is currently syncing all transactions on my computer.

That's so good to see you are sharing your experience with Mac as it is a little hard to find information like this.

Re: Best client for MAC? Litecoin-QT
« Reply #3 on: April 15, 2013, 10:12:02 AM »
Hi Guy (i just guess)

I am also very new to litecoin mining. I have a Macbook pro and am exploring before upgrading to any new Mac.

I have Litecoin-QT installed and it has already synchronized on my mac.
But .... when i start the program i get this when i try to start with pool mining
*********************************************************
"miner failed to start. Make sure you have the miners executable and libraries in the same directory as the Litecoin-Qt"
**********************************************************

Now as far as i know Mac does not work with executables. Any idea what is ment with this remark???

Because i do not have any clue i just put a Scriptminergui.app in that directory because maybe that is what is ment by executable
but that does not work also. As i expected it did not work because a gui is of course something that makes things more easy
to configure :-) and as foar as i understand Scriptminer is a whole different thing and act as a miner without a wallet.

But the  scriptminer gui itself also does not want to start because it is the wrong version??
It says *******************************************

Process:         ScryptMiner GUI [53491]
Path:            /Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Litecoin/ScryptMiner GUI.app/Contents/MacOS/ScryptMiner GUI
Identifier:      com.yourcompany.ScryptMiner GUI
Version:         ???
Code Type:       X86-64 (Native)
Parent Process:  launchd [215]
User ID:         501

Date/Time:       2013-04-15 10:56:47.242 +0200
OS Version:      Mac OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)
Report Version:  10
****************************************************************

So my question to the newbies. Do you have your mining software already running on a Mac?
Does anyone other recognize my problems and has a solution?
Does anyone know a working version of Scriptminergui for Macbook Pro with OSX 10.8.3 or know the solution to make the Scriptminer qui to work
And last but not leas,t how do i get my Litecoin-QT to work in a pool? (the executable problem)

Greetings
Loek

Not sure if you have figured this out yet, but if you download cpuminer and drag the minerd.h file into the appropriate folder then it will allow litecoin.qt to mine. If you need me to I will look up the file path where minerd.h should go when I get home tonight and post it.
