Title: Which GPU is best for Litecoin mining?
Post by: tenakha on April 05, 2013, 10:03:29 AM
I am looking to build a new box specifically for Litecoin mining.
My old gaming box has an nVidea card - which I understand is no good for bitcoin.
Is it the same for litecoin? I am considering getting a Radeon PCI Express card.
Can anyone post a list of recommended / good cards that would be useful for litecoin mining?
Should I just get the latest top-of-range Radeon card? Will that do?

Thanks

If you have ~$280 and are in the US, I would suggest a 7950 because they are easier to find and are very, very stable while mining.

Further, they will definitely hold their resale value over the next year or two compared to the 5xxx and 6xxx series, and I don't think the 8xxx series has even been announced yet.

PM me if you need any help :)

You are correct that nVidia cards are not really suited for mining cryptos.  When I first started to build my first miners I found the "LiteCoin Mining Hardware Comparison Guide (http://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison)" invaluable.
